Message from MOM to all employers
Message from MOM on 7 Feb 2020 - Advisories on 2019 Novel Coronavirus (2019-nCoV)
"Obtain MOM's approval for work pass holders who have been in mainland China to enter Singapore
Dear Employers
From 8 Feb 2020, 2359hrs, all work pass holders (including those with in-principle approvals), regardless of nationality, who have been in mainland China within the last 14 days will need MOM's approval before entering Singapore. This measure was announced by MOM on 7 Feb 2020 (refer to the press release here).
Your affected work pass holders are required to go on a mandatory 14-day Leave of Absence (LOA) upon entering Singapore. You must ensure that you have suitable premises for them to do so. They may stay in their own residences if suitable. Alternatively, you can consider arranging alternative housing such as hotels or dormitories.
Please make an application to MOM for approval 3 days before the affected work pass holders' planned date of arrival here. For urgent cases, you can still proceed to submit and MOM will try to facilitate. Please do not arrange for your affected work pass holders to travel to Singapore until you have obtained MOM's approval. Approvals will be granted on a first-come-first served basis.
Once approved, you are required to arrange to pick the affected work pass holders up from the airport when they arrive in Singapore. You must also inform them of the LOA requirement. Please ensure that they have a local mobile number before arriving in Singapore. If not, please make arrangements to provide them with one and instruct them to download Whatsapp as we will be contacting them. They must respond promptly when contacted by MOM.
We seek your full cooperation on this matter. Affected work pass holders who arrive in Singapore without MOM's approval will have their passes revoked immediately. Your company's work pass privileges will also be suspended.
Employers are advised to regularly check MOM's website for our latest advisory on the 2019-nCoV situation and MOH's website for the latest travel and health advisories.
We appreciate your cooperation in safeguarding the public health interest of Singapore.
