Reducing the worker's salary before Work Permit issuance is NO longer allowed via Ministry of Manpower

From 23 Feb 2018 - Reducing the worker's salary before Work Permit issuance is NO longer allowed

From 23 Feb 2018, MOM no longer allow employers to reduce their workers' salaries before their Work Permits are issued. This includes reducing the basic monthly salary or allowances, increasing the deductions or both. Employers are expected to be transparent with their workers on the agreed salary terms and adhere to the salary declared in the in-principle approval (IPA) letter. This restriction ensures that workers are not paid less than what is stated on their IPA letters when they arrive in Singapore and helps employers minimise employment disputes.

If changes is required, it is necessary to submit a new application. And the employer will need to ensure that the worker receives the latest copy of the IPA with the revised salary before entering Singapore.
