Tripartite Delegation to Attend International Labour Conference
Singapore’s Minister for Manpower, Mr Lim Swee Say, will lead a tripartite delegation to attend the 105th Session of the International Labour Conference from 6 to 8 June 2016 in Geneva, Switzerland.
The delegation comprises Dr Robert Yap, President of the Singapore National Employers Federation (SNEF); Ms Mary Liew, President of the National Trades Union Congress (NTUC), Mr Heng Chee How, Deputy Secretary-General of the NTUC; union representatives, employer representatives and officials from the Ministry of Manpower.
This year’s Conference will discuss various issues, such as how engagement in global supply chains can contribute to inclusive economic growth and decent work, the role and impact of employment during the transition from war to peace and amendments to the International Labour Organization’s (ILO) Maritime Labour Convention.
Minister Lim will deliver a speech at the Conference on 8 June 2016 (Wednesday), which will touch on Singapore’s economic situation and recent labour policies. On the sidelines of the conference, he will also have meetings with his foreign counterparts and attend a dinner for G20 Labour Ministers hosted by the Director-General of the ILO, Mr Guy Ryder.
